TECHNICAL BULLETIN 133
FLAMMABILITY
TESTING OF FURNITURE MANUFACTURED
FOR USE IN PUBLIC BUILDINGS
CAL
TB133 is a full-scale fire test for a complete piece of furniture
manufactured for use in public
buildings. It covers
facilities such as prisons and jails, licensed child care facilities,
auditoriums
and theaters, stadiums, board and care homes, hospitals, public assembly
areas of hotels and
motels, old age convalescent homes, commercial and government office
buildings and health care
facilities. This is not a
component test and the standards do not specify how to construct
furniture,
only how they should perform when tested by using the CAL TB133 Procedure.
If you have
component testing to be performed, see our full A2LA (American Association
for Laboratory
Accreditation) Scope of Accreditation.
In
several states in the U.S., the U.K., and parts of Europe, CAL133 or
equivalent has been
adopted as the legal fire standard of flame resistance in commercial
furniture. An
investigation
by the Fire Marshall’s office will include inspection of all furniture
and if found to be in noncompliance
to CAL TB133, the furniture manufacturer and facility owner could be found
liable.
TouchStone
Systems is A2LA Accredited to CAL TB133.
We not only test your product, we try
to provide enough information and input to assist you in solving problems in the event of a failure.
We provide full comprehensive test reporting, along with a video,
showing front, side and back
views
of the product during burn, which gives you more data on the travel
of the burn and
its main fuel source. We also
encourage you to have your key personnel witness the testing
first-hand, which
gives
a close-up understanding of how the structure, components
and
workmanship
of the product can greatly affect the test result.
Realizing
your sensitive schedules, we provide fast turnaround of tests and reports.
